Mitsubishi Grand Expedition Across Kyrgyzstan – The Nomad’s Journey

This unique expedition on the renowned Mitsubishi off-road vehicles is designed for true adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts!
We have prepared this route not just as a journey through breathtaking landscapes, where you will admire majestic mountains, lakes, and waterfalls, but also as an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and feel the pulse of Central Asia.
Day 1: Bishkek
Arrival in Bishkek.
After meeting with the driver, we have breakfast at a café and check into a hotel.
Lunch at Navat café, where we will taste delicious national cuisine.
We will visit Oak Park and the main attractions of Ala-Too Square, the heart of Kyrgyzstan’s capital.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2
Day 2: Bishkek – Cholpon-Ata

After breakfast, we depart for Cholpon-Ata, making a stop at Konorchek Canyon, a hidden treasure offering unique landscapes.
Lunch in Boom Gorge, a gateway to the stunning mountain scenery of the Tian Shan.
Upon arrival in Cholpon-Ata, we visit the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center named after Chingiz Aitmatov, where the spirit and history of Kyrgyzstan come to life.
Free time for swimming in Issyk-Kul Lake.

Day 3
Day 3: Cholpon-Ata – Karkyra

🏕 Overnight: Wooden cottages
After breakfast, we head to Grigoriev Gorge, a place of breathtaking beauty.
We visit Kara-Kul Lake, nestled among steep cliffs, then cross a pass into Semenov Gorge.
Lunch in yurts with a folklore performance by local artists.
We continue to Karkyra Valley, making a stop at the Tamerlane’s Cairns (San-Tash).
Accommodation and dinner in wooden cottages by the river.
Day 4
Day 4: Karkyra – Sary-Jaz

🏕 Overnight: Tents or shepherd’s house (optional)
After breakfast, we drive through the stunning Sary-Jaz Valley, along the Kazakh border, crossing the Turuk Pass (3,625 m).
We descend into the Sary-Jaz Valley, where vast alpine meadows are home to yaks, horses, and sheep.
Lunch in the valley at a shepherd’s home.
Dinner and overnight stay by a small waterfall.
Day 5
Day 5: Sary-Jaz – Karakol

🏕 Overnight: Hotel or guesthouse
After breakfast, we enjoy river fishing on the Koylu River, a tributary of Sary-Jaz.
Lunch in nature.
We then travel to Karakol via the Chon-Ashuu Pass (3,822 m), one of the highest in the country.
Dinner at Saymaluu Café.
Accommodation at a hotel or guesthouse.
Day 6
Day 6: Karakol – Ak-Sai

🏕 Overnight: Yurt camp
We visit the Barskoon Gorge, where waterfalls create a mesmerizing melody.
After lunch, we head to the Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon, a magical place with unique rock formations.
We continue to Ak-Sai Canyons, where we experience eagle hunting and archery demonstrations.
Free time for horse riding and swimming in Issyk-Kul Lake.
Dinner with traditional Kyrgyz cuisine.
Overnight in yurts by the lake.
Day 7
Day 7: Ak-Sai – Song-Kul

After breakfast, we leave the Ak-Sai Valley.
Along the way, we enjoy stunning views of the Orto-Tokoy Reservoir, one of the largest in Kyrgyzstan.
Next, we visit the village of Kochkor, where we learn about the ancient craft of making traditional felt products and take part in this fascinating process.
Lunch – traditional Kyrgyz cuisine.
Continuing through the winding roads of the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass (3446 m), we make our way to Song-Kul Lake, located at an altitude of over 3000 meters. It is the most atmospheric high-altitude pasture in the Tian Shan mountains, where we experience the traditional nomadic lifestyle of Kyrgyz tribes.
We settle into a yurt camp, where we attend a masterclass on making boorsok (traditional Kyrgyz fried bread).
Optional horseback riding or hiking in the picturesque mountains.
Dinner and overnight stay in yurts.
Day 8
Day 8: Song-Kul – Shar Waterfall

After breakfast, we cross the Teskei-Torpok Pass (also called “33 Parrots”), with its numerous winding roads and breathtaking views.
We explore the town of Naryn, where we stop for lunch.
Continuing our journey, we head to the Bash-Kaiyndy Gorge, where we settle in a yurt camp.
Free time to relax and explore.
Dinner and overnight stay in yurts.
Day 9
Day 9: Shar Waterfall – Kel-Suu Lake

After an early breakfast, we hike to the hidden natural wonder of Kyrgyzstan – Shar Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Central Asia, standing at over 400 meters.
Packed lunch.
Then, we drive towards Kel-Suu Lake, passing through dense pine forests and the winding roads of the Kynda Pass (3102 m).
Arriving at the vast Ak-Sai Valley, we admire its colorful alpine meadows.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Kel-Suu camp.
Day 10
Day 10: Kel-Suu Lake – Tash-Rabat

After breakfast, we ride on horseback to the magnificent high-altitude Kel-Suu Lake (3520 m), surrounded by towering cliffs, where majestic eagles soar above.
Returning to camp for lunch, we then continue our journey.
On the way, we stop at the Kulzha-Bashy River Canyon, a small but breathtakingly beautiful natural wonder.
Next, we visit the enchanting Chatyr-Kul Lake (3500 m), which seems to hold the sky within its waters.
We settle in and have dinner near the ancient caravanserai of Tash-Rabat.
Day 11
Day 11: Tash-Rabat – Kazarman

After a hearty breakfast, we take a guided tour of Tash-Rabat, a unique architectural monument from the early Middle Ages.
Crossing the Mels Pass (3420 m), we continue towards Kara-Goo Pass (2800 m), admiring lush green meadows and vibrant red clay mountains, which create a stunning landscape.
From the top, we take in panoramic views of the Central Tian Shan mountain range.
We prepare lunch outdoors by the river, then drive to Kazarman, where we settle in and enjoy dinner at a guesthouse.
Day 12
Day 12: Kazarman – Arslanbob

After breakfast, we drive over the Kok-Art Pass (2500 m), known for its rugged beauty.
Passing through the longest tunnel in Kyrgyzstan (3.9 km), we reach Jalal-Abad, where we explore its vibrant market and have lunch at a local café.
We then head to the unique natural wonder of Kyrgyzstan – Arslanbob, famous for its ancient walnut forest and stunning waterfalls.
After a hike to the waterfalls, we settle into a guesthouse and enjoy dinner.
Day 13
Day 13: Arslanbob – Sary-Chelek Nature Reserve

After breakfast, we travel along the Uzbekistan border to the city of Tash-Kumyr, an important industrial center, especially known for mining.
After lunch at a local café, we head to Sary-Chelek Nature Reserve, famous for its picturesque lake and rich biodiversity, home to rare animals and plants.
Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 14
Day 14: Sary-Chelek – Chychkan Gorge

After breakfast, we explore the reserve, enjoying breathtaking landscapes and immersing ourselves in nature’s harmony.
After a hearty lunch, we drive towards Toktogul Reservoir, which plays a crucial role in the region’s energy supply, as it powers the largest hydroelectric station in Kyrgyzstan.
We pass along the stunning Naryn River, which flows between two majestic Tian Shan mountain ranges.
Dinner and overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 15
Day 15: Chychkan Gorge – Bishkek

After a light breakfast, we drive through Chychkan Gorge, where every rock and stream has its own story.
Next, we continue through the Suusamyr Valley, known for its vivid green meadows, crystal-clear air, and sunlit rivers.
After lunch, we head towards the capital, crossing the Too-Ashuu Pass (3586 m), where snow-capped peaks stand like silent guardians over these lands.
In the evening, we enjoy a farewell dinner in Bishkek.

Important Information
Kyrgyzstan is 90% mountainous, with half of its territory above 3,000 meters.
Expect altitude fluctuations between 300m and 1,000m, and temperatures ranging from +38°C to +5°C.
