Tour Description
This exciting journey begins with a scenic drive along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.
The first stop is at one of the country’s most unusual natural wonders – the Skazka Canyon (“Fairy Tale
Canyon”).
The canyon lives up to its magical name due to its bizarre sandstone formations that resemble castles,
mythical creatures, and fantasy landscapes. During an easy stroll through the canyon, your guide will
share local legends and stories about the area. You’ll also have plenty of time to take stunning photos
against the backdrop of massive red cliffs and the endless blue horizon of the lake.
After a break at the canyon, the tour continues to the one of the most picturesque mountain gorges of
the Tien Shan – the Barskoon Gorge.
The road winds through majestic pine trees along a rushing mountain river. Here, you’ll visit a series of
beautiful waterfalls, including “Tears of the Snow Leopard”, “Champagne Splash”, and others, each with
its own character and power. You can get close to the falls and feel the refreshing spray of the cascading
water.
The guide will also share fascinating facts about the area’s natural features, its role in the history of the
Great Silk Road, and the monument to Yuri Gagarin, placed here in honor of the first cosmonaut’s rest in
the gorge after his flight to space.
