Kyrgyzstan is home to a unique place on Earth where magnificent snow-capped peaks of Tian Shan mountains stretch across the country and all surround one of the most enigmatic high-altitude lakes on the planet – Issyk-Kul Lake. The mountain chain is the highest after the Himalayas and covers the Central Tian Shan and a significant part of the Pamir-Alai region, offering vastly diverse landscapes to visit and explore by foot, horses or off-road vehicles. Some places resemble Nepal, others – Switzerland, some parts remind you of Mongolia, and in some areas it feels like being on another planet. The breathtaking nature is complemented by a vibrant nomadic culture that can be traced back to the past by visiting its most famous landmarks.
