Day 1
Two-Day Adventure into the Heart of the Tien Shan: From Karakol to Karkyra via Sary-Jaz
The journey to the untouched wilderness of the Eastern Tien Shan starts from the city of Karakol.
In the morning, embark on a thrilling ascent to the Chon-Ashuu Pass (3,822 m) — a gateway to the raw
and breathtakingly beautiful Sary-Jaz Valley.
A drive through rocky gorges and winding alpine roads, surrounded by meadows and snow-capped
peaks, to the heart of the highlands – the vast and remote Sary-Jaz Valley.
Here, beneath towering mountain ridges, оvernight in tents, enjoying solitude, a
starry sky, and the silence, broken only by the wind and distant calls of yaks.
Dinner and overnight in a yurt camp.

Day 2
Breakfast.
At sunrise, the journey continues over the wild and scenic Turuk Pass (approx. 3,700 m). The panoramic
views from the top look like living paintings with steep cliffs on one side and endless green meadows on
the other.
Lunch.
Descend to the Karkyra Valley, where you might feel as if you’ve crossed into a different world of silent
mountains and open fertile plains, beloved by nomads and shepherds.
This tour is about a connection to the soul of the mountains, where every turn tells a story, and every
sunrise promises new discoveries.
Return to Karakol.

  • Border zone permits — $35 per person
    • Meals
    • Camping equipment (tent, sleeping mats, sleeping bags)

 

If needed, we can provide camping equipment for rent.
Gas stove and kitchen utensils are included for self-cooking.
Optional service: we can provide a cook to prepare meals during the trip.

Important Notes: To visit the border zones (Karkyra, Sary-Jaz), you must send a scan or clear photo of your passport at least 20 days before the tour to process the necessary permits.
A valid passport is required during the tour.
